Engineering Energy (ages 11-14)
For ages 11-14 must have completed 5th grade
Power up with the E-team as they explore alternative energy sources found along our coast. Discover how engineers harness energy from the sun, wind and ocean. Design your own devices to capture the energy of waves and tides and convert it to electricity. Investigate efforts to produce biodiesel from tiny phytoplankton. Learn about coastal North Carolina wind farm initiatives.
Activities: investigate coastal alternative energy sources including solar, wind, tidal, and waves.
Highlights: use your engineering skills to build a wind turbine and wave machine. Possible field trips include Center for Marine Science, Progress Nuclear Energy Plant, and alternative energy sites.
Cancellation policy: No refunds will be given within 2 weeks prior to the start date of your camp session. A 25% cancellation fee will be charged up to 2 weeks prior to camp start date. Please note that there will be a $25 processing fee for any changes in dates of enrollment.
